Who We Are
The Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) offers a wide range of postgraduate opportunities from Postgraduate Diploma level to Doctoral level. Currently, more than seventy-five postgraduate degree programs are offered through various Boards of study and institutions of the University of Kelaniya.
Some programs are entirely course-based, some are research-based, while others combine both coursework and research components. Coursework is delivered through face-to-face teaching, with classes usually conducted during weekends or evenings to support working professionals.
To increase accessibility and flexibility for students, FGS aims to introduce distance learning modules in the near future.
The University of Kelaniya provides opportunities for postgraduate research studies at MPhil and PhD levels across all Faculties. These programs develop advanced academic and research skills.
Research students work closely with assigned supervisors to achieve their research objectives. Applicants with limited research experience are encouraged to complete a Master's degree before enrolling in MPhil or PhD programs.
