Mechanism to consider students as first-timers
The Faculty Board of Graduate Studies, at its meeting No. 257 held on 2022.02.18, has approved the Criteria for considering candidates as First Timers:
"The Board decided to consider candidates who are not sitting for examinations at the first given attempt as first-timers subject to requesting the same with the recommendation of the coordinator of the program along with a valid proof of the same.

Medical certificate issued by a government hospital or private hospital*, public health inspector (for Covid Related issues) |
i. Obtain the recommendation from the program coordinator
ii. Submit to the BoS consideration

Sitting for island-wide exams |
Admission card and confirmation issued by an authorized officer |

3 |
Government exams |
Admission card and confirmation issued by an authorized officer |

Job interviews/ exams, Promotion exams/interviews of government organizations |
Admission card/confirmation issued by an authorized officer |

Other recognized exams** |
Admission card and confirmation issued by an authorized officer |
*candidates should obtain the recommendation from the chief medical officer / medical officer of the University of Kelaniya for medical certificates issued by private hospitals
**acceptable to the Board of Study."
This is effective from 2022.02.18.
