Any Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University or Prāchina Pandith or equivalent qualifications approved by the Senate of the University of Kelaniya
Aims and Objectives
This program is designed to enhance the awareness of the nature, structure, and function of language in general, and to develop the candidates' ability to execute linguistic knowledge in dealing with practical activities related to the candidates' own language, it will also encourage candidates to do research on, one or the other aspect of the language as selected by them.

Lectures, seminars, workshops, and or research work.
Evaluation procedure
Assignments, in-class test, year-end written examination, and or viva voce for dissertation
Written examination
The written examination, consisting of six papers (compulsory) of three hours each, will be held at the end of the first year.
