The University of Kelaniya celebrated the inauguration of the fourth batch of the MSc & Master’s Degree Programs in Biochemistry and Biotechnology on 26th of October 2024, marking an important milestone in the growth and recognition of this dynamic program. The ceremony was held at ITC Ratnadipa, Colombo, bringing together future students, distinguished guests, and academic staff members in a warm gathering. The event was graced by the Chief Guest Senior Prof. Kapila Seneviratne - Chairman,
University Grants Commission, Sri Lanka along with Senior Prof. Sudath Kalingamudali -the Dean of the Faculty of Science and the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Prof. Jeewantha Premaratne- the Head of the Department of Chemistry, and Prof. Nimanthi Jayathilaka - the Program Coordinator. Their inspiring words and insights set an encouraging tone for the students as they embark on this academic journey. Several respected members of the academic staff from the University of Kelaniya along with visiting lecturers renowned in their respective fields such as Prof. Priyani Paranagama, Prof. Tissa Amarakoon, Prof. Renuka Attanayake, Dr. Chamila Kadigamuwa, Dr. Dulith Abeykoon, Dr. Jayangika Dahanayake, Dr. Thelma Abeysinghe and Dr. Nihal Attygalle were also present to honor and support the new cohort. Their participation highlighted the collective commitment of our faculty to advancing knowledge and collaboration in the fields of Biochemistry and Biotechnology. Representatives from the sponsors of the event and invited guests from tech industries were also in attendance, further enhancing the collaborative spirit of the event.
